Welcome to CMB's artist feature with Ruby Rose Taylor
Ruby Rose Taylor
I love music, life and most things simple. Musically I've "played around", both as a fan and a performer, especially enjoying the wide variety of music within the country genre. Its a cool learning curve creating original material and then recording it. I love getting out and playing live. From the local old folks home, to our country community singing group and joining in with my friends for a jam, or just a good late night songwriting session.
As a country Tassie girl who literally grew up in the bush I'm strongly drawn to songs that hopefully capture the kind of life I live. If any of my music appeals to you, then thats fantastic and I hope to hear from you. Thanks to everyone who has helped me to date, sharing their talents with me and helping me push my boundaries!
Music History and Background
First ever recording of her song "Come Dance With Me" (2006)
Ruby's first "official" journey into country music and recording came about in late 2006 as part of her role as co-host on the Tasmanian discovery TV series "Wild, Blue and Free".
Fortunately (or perhaps embarrasingly for Ruby) one of the first recording sessions was caught on video camera as she practiced her original song "Come Dance With Me". The video, which is available on her YouTube channel (see below) has achieved almost 30,000 views. Since that time Ruby has gone on to write many more original songs, as well as co-writing with other country songwriters. Official downloads of her music has surpassed close to half-a-million online downloads.
In late 2008 to early 2009 Ruby recorded a limited edition EP containing 5 new songs. The title track "Until The Morning Comes" went on to top the digital music charts at MP3.com.au in January 2009, and achieved the following review:
"...one of the most perfect pop songs I've heard courtesy of the Parattah 2. The xtra reverb, echo has a wonderful jesus and mary chain ring to it. Keep it and keep going, the world loves good talent and tolerates effort. Luckily you fall into the world loves ya category."

These Roads - Ruby Rose Taylor and Kip Davies Released: May 2010
Artists Description: "We wrote "These Roads" as we came to truly know the life story of an older Australian country chap we had met through music. As he shared his story of life, of his experiences, joys and regrets, we felt the common ground that existed between us despite the significant difference in years.
Each of us can face wars and battles in life of many different kinds. As even today men and women of all ages, military and civilians, are affected by the current war on terror, we know that the often lonely journey that is life is not confined to any particular age, race or belief system. It is in truly listening to each others life journey and being willing to reach out, that we can show the love, respect and recognition for which every person yearns.
These Roads is an Australian country song written from the heart which we hope will encourage people to see past age or appearance and instead recognise the depth within everyone of us. All of us through life are on a journey down these roads."
We've Got To Keep Trying - Ruby Rose Taylor and Kip Davies Released: September 2010
Artists Description: "We wrote this song after we learnt how thousands of children are currently dying each day due to Malaria, and that this disease is easily preventable and treatable. However this tragedy is happening in the poorer parts of our world, and it's not something that even makes the news.
We found out that many doctors actually volunteer to go into the areas where Malaria is a problem, even though this can place them at risk. For example often in these poorer countries, there are civil wars being fought, and medical aid isn't on the agenda of those doing the fighting.
Doctors, nurses and other aid workers are often targets in these military situations. Sometimes also there is simply no infrastructure in place to allow for medical help, or Malaria has flared up in inaccessible regions without roads or other easy transportation. Our hearts go out to those suffering, and we truly admire the courage of those trying to help."
